Training, apprenticeship and licensure are different steps.
Minnesota regulates permanent makeup as tattooing under its body art laws. A Certificate of Completion confirms that you met The Permanent Method’s course requirements, but it is not a Minnesota body art technician license.
Minnesota currently requires a tattoo technician applicant to document at least 200 hours of supervised tattoo experience. The fundamental course does not replace that separate supervised-experience requirement.
The Permanent Method offers a select number of apprenticeships for students who want to complete supervised hours for licensure after fundamentals. Placement is not automatic, and students who are interested should contact us immediately after class registration to reserve an apprenticeship spot.
Out-of-state students should contact us for information about requirements for live-model work. License requirements may depend on your state and current credentials.
Certificate of Completion
What You Will Need to Start
- Class registration ($850 non-refundable deposit to hold your space in class).
- State approved bloodborne pathogens certification.
- Temporary body art license filed with the department of health (if you are wanting to participate in live model work).
Important Information
If you are a Minnesota resident, please complete the application for a Temporary Tattoo License at least 14 days before class starts. Failure to do so will result in you not being able to take a live model. If you are an out-of-state resident, you may need to apply for a guest license. Contact us for more information.
